Just a quick question/rant about this new MO system:
Shouldn't a team who currently holds a playoff spot have a higher morale for both players and the team overall? I think in the NHL, when a team is in a fight for a playoff spot, and they're currently holding one of the 8 spots, the team is highly motivated? Even if the team is on the outside looking in but still battling, the motivation throughout the locker room should be higher than normal.
Maybe its because there is a little over 20 games left in the season and no one has really started to panic, but a team, such as mine for example, who is currently sitting in 7th spot and, according to the standings, playing above .500 hockey has a team morale of 23. Perhaps I've yet to fully understand the format of this morale system...I don't know. I'm not saying any changes need to be made nor am I calling for anyones head; I just wanted to run this by the head honchos and try to get a better grasp on this new system.

Write a decent legth article for the league, your team will be given Morale points.
I think 23 MO for you team looks about right...compared to the other teams in your conference and their position in the standings.
I don't think it really plays a large role in anything tho...

The MO stat isn't so much based on standings and developing playoff races (I honestly don't think the SIM has the capacity to calculate that) as it is a game to game trend. (Which would make sense since teams that appear to be secure in their playoff spots have sky high motivation right now, even if they're in a position to relax a little.) I don't know all the variables, but they seem to be weighted to the slightly negative. Boston is in the same situation you're in.
I'll do some research and see what I can drum up for you.
It would also be good to note that the weighting of MO against performance within the SIM is turned down a bit. (Default is 60, I cranked it down to 40) So it'll impact, but not enough to create a horrible divide.
