Starting with this season, the BuHL is going to take the coaching positions a little more seriously.
First - The League is looking for a GM that is interested in taking on the position of Coaching Agent. The agent will work with league officials to help make the league more detailed and exciting.
The agent will be asked to follow team results and rerate coaches appropriately in the offseason. The agent will keep track of coachs' contracts and negotiate new contracts with GMs. The agent will decide when to introduce new coaches to the league as well as when to retire them from the league. The agent will create all coaches as he sees fit based on creation rules posted below.
Second - All currently employed coaches are now considered to be on a one year contract. If you wish to retain your coach you will be required to negotiate a new contract with the agent between the trade deadline and the first day of the playoffs. You may wish to not retain your coach and wait until the offseason to see who is available then or if new coaches will be coming to the league. Coaches don't accept bonus money in contract negotiations. All new contracts are based on 3 season deals. Coach salaries will start at $100,000 and be capped at $999,999.
Third - Because coaches now 'develop' and have contracts and an agent, it makes sense to create them in a style that will influence their style but also allow for growth based on team results. Coaches will be created using a total of 250 points spread over the 4 categories. Unless on special occasions, deemed so by the agent, coaches will start in the league with 50 EX and 50 LD. The rerates of this ratings will be up to the agent however it is assumed that EX will grow based on total number of games played in a season (regular + playoff games) and that LD will grow based on playoff appearances and may be influenced by how many rounds a team goes into the playoffs. OF and DF will grow based on team stats. Coaches can go both up and down in rerates.
Fourth - The league will not be flooded with coaches. At anyone time there will only be as many as 5 extra coaches.
Fifth - (This part has not been fully discussed by league officials but as i write this it becomes apparently necessary) Coaches can only be hired/fired during the offseason after rerates have taken place. This is the only way to ensure accuracy in rerates as it would be very hard to keep track of a coaches results and how the team changed when hired mid-season.
For this off season:
I will act as Coach agent and hand over the reigns to the new agent when he comes on board.
Five new coaches are being introduced to the league. Several retirements, for the end of the season, are being considered and will be suggested to the agent.
I will take offers on the 5 coaches and determine the best fit for each coach. I will evaluate as many aspects of the team as possible not simply the financial portion. I will only take offers sent via PM. All offers via MSN or email will be ignored. My mailbox is just too flooded to get more coming in.
New Coaches
Wayne Gretzky - OF:85 DF:65 EX:50 LD:50
Guy Carbonneau - OF:70 DF:80 EX:50 LD:50
Barry Trotz - OF:65 DF:85 EX:50 LD:50
Dave Tippett - OF:78 DF:72 EX:50 LD:50
Paul Maurice - OF:80 DF:70 EX:50 LD:50
GMs can offer on any one coach at a time. Teams cannot offer contracts to multiple coaches at the same time. Before you can offer a new coach a contract you must fire your existing coach. This can be in the same PM as the offer.
Remember that even tho you have fired your existing coach it doesnt' mean that you are garunteed to sign the coach you have offered on. The coach will sign with the best option available and look at salary as well as the team itself.
Mods: You may want to create a new forum thread/position just for coaches? Can it be set up so that the Coach agent and the Mods are the only ones that can post in that part of the forum in order to keep it cleanned up and allow him to keep track of signings?
