After tough negotiations started during the allstar break the rangers have extended C/RW Anson Carter 5yr, 4.8million/season with performance bonuses that would allow him to make close to 7 mil a year should he reach them and a seasonal NTC. This season, Carter's 2nd in new york since being acquired from the canucks he has 23 goals and 38 assists and is a -2. Carter had expressed interest in signing longterm with the rangers so that his fledgling record label Big Ups records could continue to expand in the Big apple. Gm Castillo also expressed interest in Anson staying when asked he had this to say about him.
Anson is a player we were heavily pursuing when he was with Vancouver and when we got him we were pleased with the acquistion. Despite our season not being the best he has proven why he is amongst the top players in the league by continuing to improve his point totals and his defensive prowess. We wanted to ensure that he would put on a Rangers sweater for years to come and with the generous contract we've since come to terms on he will be with the us into the later stages of his career.
Another notable signing was recent acquisition David Nemirovski who has signed a 1 year deal worth 1.75 mil. When asked about the term and the value of his contract David replied by saying that he wanted to have a full season before deciding on if he would want to stay, and that he wanted to see where the team was headed in terms of roster players. David was acquired just after the deadline and has jumped into the lineup with 38 pts to his credit playing on the 2nd line Right Wing.
Lastly, the rangers have come to terms with defenseman Radim Bicanek. Bicanek was acquired from the senators along with Pat Verbeek midseason to help fill out the farm. Gm Castillo has repeatedly stressed that there needed to be more of a presence on the farm and has been on a mission all season long attempting to acquire as much farm talent as possible to supplement injuries on his roster as well as development of his young players. Radim was ecstatic at the contract and the term he received and will look to play an expanded role on the team.
