I am completely sold on STHS (We use it in another league I'm in and after a long talk with the commish, I've been sold) In the off season we will likely migrate from the buggy FHL over to the less buggy STHS.
At the end of the day it's really a call that Kevin and I will be making, but I feel it'll be best for the health of the league. There's a migration utility that STHS has put out for transferring FHL files which should make the transition easy. From what I've seen and been told the software is user friendly.
There will be a learning curve, since being OV blind will severely impact how your team performs and coaches play a much larger role in how a team performs.
I know this might be a little premature to announce - or declare intentions, since it's not official - but I wanted to let you know that making the league run smoothly is a very high priority for those in charge and with consistent problems with the simulator itself, I think migrating is the best option for all of us.

"OV Blind" is characterized by a GM being confident that player overall is the only determining factor to his club performing well or not. FHL does do a little to balance this, with coaches and a little bit of player chemistry. STHS takes it a step further with the coaching options, moral and other features.
It encourages a wholistic approach to building a team. A 'high OV' player like Malkin, might do well within some systems, but horrible in others. The moral system effects this as well. A player who would be rated 80+ in FHL will generally do well no matter where you put him. in STHS a player rated really high who is relegated to the third line (due to depth issues) will start to develop moral issues and might be outplayed by 'lesser' players who are in the same position.
That and the OVs of the players (at least in the league I'm in, I'm not sure if it's the same for all of them) are packed a little tighter than they are in FHL.

Might I add as well that the moral feature makes having a strong farm system a little more essential. If your farm team is doing well and moral is high. A call up to those top farm players (when the pro team is doing poorly or suffering from low moral) will actually serve as a boost to the farm player's pro line mates.
There are also "potential" ratings on coaches and players that in theory develop as the player ages (and his EX increases) but since the league I'm in is NHL rerates, I haven't seen that system play out.

This isn't a complaint, its more a question. I don't disagree with the switch to STHS from FHL, but reading between the lines, it sounds like you're planning the switch this season.
If this is the plan, I'm not quite sure that this is something that can be decided in the manner of a "surprise". Josh and Kev, you guys are the commisioners, so in the end its your decision. I can tell you right off the bat, that building a team in STHS is quite different then building a team in FHL. I'm in 2 FHL SIMs (well its looking like it'll be one after the all star break) and 2 STHS (one I'm actually stepping down from), so its not a matter of me being afraid of change. I expected this change, just not during a sim season. So whats the dealio? Have you guys decided this is the way we're going? How do the other GM's in the league feel about the change?

The plan was to take it for a test run for the All-Star break. It's impossible to migrate over halfway through the season, so we'd lose the season if we did that. The goal is to hopefully start next season after the draft with the new sim. We're still tinkering around though, so there are plans, but nothing is set in stone.

Im in another STHS league and my computer for whatever reason cant get the software to load properly. I had it on my last comp so I know its not just me, so I very likely wouldnt be a very good member of the league having to send in text lines or not do lines at all.

How long ago was this? They have since upgraded the software and extended Vista support (if that's what you're running)
