Anyone catch the 'action' in the NHL tonight?
12 games
61 goals
A few classic blowouts. Canucks hammered The Hawks, Carolina beat the Coyotes, Detroit killed Edmonton. Is this what Bettman meant by an 'exciting' high scoring NHL? If so. Does anyone know any good European Elite Leagues to stream online?
I know they wanted to open up the NHL by limiting the size of the goalie's gear, taking out the red line, limiting the goalie's ability to play the puck and clamping down on obstruction.
Now they want to either increase the size of the nets or modify the pipes so that every shot to the post deflects in. After a night like tonight, is that really necessary? I didn't even bother watching the second periods of the Canucks or Oilers games. (Opting to playing Mario Sunshine instead)
Yes, there were a few close games, but if Bettman gets his way, 7-6 and 8 goal games won't be a rare thing.
Anyone else uncomfortable with this?

I like seeing goals scored...but there's also been games that were just as enjoyable watching two goaltenders put on a clinic and making save after save keeping a game scoreless.
Nights like this and the league trying to make goal scoring easier is just going to continue to make this revolving door of goalies bigger.
