Well, that blew up.
Todd - When we spoke, it was about the live draft specifically. You asked if it would be too late to release a list, I said yes, because we were in the middle of said live draft. The 24th overall pick would have fallen under that.
As for those of you who did release a list, some of them were useful, some not. The one that was most recently released should provide several people with some useful picks.
Not exactly how I envisioned the rule working out - a big part of it was to help add to the depth of the draft - but it's too late for that now.
As for *that* specific rule, after the draft one of two things is going to happen.
A: We're going to go NHL rules for the draft. 18 to 20 for North American players. 18 minimum for European players. Everyone else is a free agent, no lists.
B: We ratify the existing rule to avoid this sort of cluster **** in the future.
That being said:
19. St Louis Blues (via Blades) (10:07am MST) 20. New Jersey Knights (via Racers) 21. Ottawa Senators

Interesting....so what about this draft? I would not have sold my pick if I knew there was other guys to pick from.

INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, ADRIAN AND KEVIN DID WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED 2 DO WITHIN THE RULES. THEY BASICALLY SCOUTED SOME PLAYERS AND SENT IN A LIST, THEN CHOSE THE BEST PLAYER FROM THAT LIST. I DON'T SEE ANY PROBLEM WITH WHAT THEY DID. DUSTIN, IF U WERE THE GM OF THE NHL RED WINGS, WOULD YOU ACCEPT CRITICISM FOR DOING GREAT SCOUTING AND PICKING UP GUYS LIKE LIDSTROM, DATSYUK AND ZETTERBERG ? IF THE WINGS TOLD EVERYONE HOW GOOD THESE GUYS WERE, THEN THEY NEVER WOULD'VE GOT THEM. THAT'S WHY SCOUTS WORK TIRELESSLY TO GET THE BEST RESULTS FOR THE TEAM THEY WORK FOR. JUST WHAT ADRIAN AND KEVIN DID, SCOUTED FOR THEIR TEAMS, AND PICKED THE BEST PLAYERS ACCORDING TO THEIR SCOUTING.

The Knights are upset that an opposing GM has called one of their prospects a BUM! Team management will hold a press conference once the draft is over to address this situation.

JUST FOR THE RECORD if i was aware that i could have got bourque in the 3rd round i would have traded down from 24th overall and got the fist pick available to get bourque with this gay rule. plus maybe a 2nd round pick or something. o well....Boogaard will meet Bourque in the season and kick the nuts outta him! Ending his career maybe. Every time i play the pens the goons are going in. so thats a post, that im looking for more goons.
